About // Lili Navarro-Wilson

Collector,
Designer, &
Restorer of
Vintage
Furnishings

The importance of second-chances, breaking down stigma, & not judging a book by its cover is deeply personal for me & inspires me to look at old or overlooked furniture in a similar way, giving it a chance to be nurtured into its full potential. Like people, vintage furniture each has a unique story. Furniture is designed to support our lives & can be just as layered & complex as the people who create it. Read more about my story here.

Chaise Noir began with a desire to revive abandoned pieces, deemed beyond repair, left for trash. With special care, I consider all parts of a piece of furniture when building back a solid foundation with reverence for form & function. Inspired by life cycles, organic flow of nature, & the soul of hand craftsmanship, these pieces stories continue on & new life emerges.

Fun
Facts

01. Aquarius Sun, Cancer Rising, Pisces Moon

I’m a Highly Sensitive Person with High Sensation Seeking trait, the opposition of which is a daily energy balancing act but contributes to my detail-oriented work.

02. Animal lover with a strong affinity for cats

My fur companion is Kiki, a black cat rescue from the San Francisco SPCA who I named after Kiki de Montparnasse, a french bohemian muse in 1920’s Paris.

03. poi, fire-spinning, Swimming, golf

I have many hobbies outside of design that involve movement, proprioception, and mind/body connection. This helps me to foster creativity. I still dance and spin poi as a way to get out of my head and into my body.

04. Yoga & meditation are an integral part of my work

I received a 200 hr RYT Certification in 2016. Designing meditation cushions marries the 2 fields as well as providing a sustainable product made from fall-off or scrap fabric from upholstery projects.
